Mug Shots, Ep. 3

20120703-132340.jpg

Okay, so it’s not really levitating, but this floating mug crafted by Tigere Chiriga surely boasts a clever design. I wouldn’t suggest Aeropressing into it, though.

For more photos, check out Design Milk’s article. If you’re already sold, head straight for the Kickstarter to pledge for the first manufactured mugs.

Mug Shots, Ep. 2

Mug Shots, Ep. 2

“What the hell do you want?” he seemed to say. How could I resist! The first mug on Mug Shots to actually have a face, this wood-fired masterpiece was crafted by one of the fine folks at Union Project in Pittsburgh. Though you might not guess it from the above photo, the sculpture does hold about six ounces.

What Are You Doing With Your Coffee Filters?

High School Junior, Amber Todecoy, decided to make a dress entirely out of used coffee filters.

Mug Shots, Ep. 1

A mug say a lot about its owner. There’s nothing as comforting as drinking your favorite coffee beverage out of your favorite mug. The loss of such a mug is on-par with the loss of a small creature, like a hamster or guinea pig. So owning a great mug is like owning a great guinea pig, except you can drink out of it. Right?

“Mug Shots” will be an ever-growing photographic collection of great mugs. It begins today! If you find a mug worthy of the collection, please feel use the Contact page to send me a photo.

Mug Shot 1, Nurses are Souper

This 16oz beauty was sitting on the shelves of my local Goodwill, just begging to be saved. Luckily I am a sucker for a delightfully bad pun and, being a grammar pedant, was mesmerized by the confusion of ending a statement with punctuation mark outside of quotation marks. Welcome to the gang! Next time I want some clam chowder or three cappuccinos stuffed into one mug, I’ll know where to turn.
