About Olfiction

OLFICTION

A perfumery studio, publisher and fragrance house, Olfiction was founded in 2016 by creative duo perfumer Pia Long and evaluator Nick Gilbert. We have spent over a combined 60 years working inside the fragrance industry - creating perfumes, evaluating them, writing about them, and teaching others how to understand them. We have worked with some of the best-known names in the trade, advised brands at every level, and spent decades building knowledge and experience.

We believe that scents and stories are structurally inseparable, and everything we do reflects that. Our perfumes and books are infused with every bit of our knowledge, born from an endless curiosity and desire to create something truly original. We revel in playful creativity and a dedication to learning, experience and skill over shortcuts or smoke and mirrors.

PIA LONG

Pia started her career selling fragrance as a teenager in the 1980s, and began training as a perfumer in 2006. Since then, she has created hundreds of formulas for all kinds of scented products.

NICK GILBERT

Nick's career began selling fragrance at the turn of the Millennium. He quickly fell in love with niche fragrance, forged his path in to product and fragrance development, and is responsible for designing the concepts and narratives of best-selling fragrances.

THE STUDIO

Our creative studio and perfume lab is situated in Buckinghamshire, England. There, we formulate, evaluate, and compound every trial. We create for brands, ingredients producers, and ourselves. Once finalised, the formula is transmitted to our partners Accords & Parfums in Grasse, where the fragrances are precision compounded to the highest quality standards.
