A distinctive and divisive Finnish gourmand, evoking the salty sensation of traditional SALMIAKKI. Liquorice root sprinkled with salmiak salt, black pepper and green anise for brightness. Immortelle and myrrh are included for their bitter-sweet characteristics, with cade, birch and rectified cedarwood for smoky intensity.

The formula is a further study of the salted licorice theme first explored in Fume (Demo Accords), and an homage to the perfumer’s Finnish roots.

INSPIRATION

Pia wanted to create the ultimate Finnish gourmand, an ode to the favourite sweet of the Nordics: salted liquorice. Combining anise and birch with a superdose (20%) of myrrh, the result is a subversion of the gourmand genre with smoked resinous depth.

SALMIAKKI is a perfumistic interpretation of this delicacy, with an extraordinarily literal impression of salmiak salt and dark liquorice.

Nasty and beautiful. This is pure salmiakki soul to me- it feels like waves of soft anise on a salty, smoky beach. The first sniff almost burns my nose, just like rolling open a paper bag of fresh licorice and breathing a little too deep, and then notes of smoke, leather, and a dense animalic musk open up. I was knocked on my ass by this one- this is bold and fearless and I’m kind of in awe of it. Purchased from a US retailer and I love it so much.

my new favourite comfort perfume. its very special and expertedly blended. I happily spay away and enjoy the smell of salmiakki. so yummy!

What an absolutely beautiful scent. I’m Danish, and we eat a LOT of licorice too, so I can attest to this scent being realistic. It has some extra facets - something a bit animalic, something warm and resinous - that just makes it so beautiful and deep. The dry down is gorgeous too. Absolutely the best licorice scent I’ve tried!
